2013 North Bristol Art Trail 23rd & 24th November (preview night on Friday 22nd)November 22nd, 2013
Now in its 12th year, the North Bristol Art Trail will once again be offering a spectacular array of artwork from over 100 artists in more than 50 venues across the north of Bristol. The doors of artists homes, studios, cafes, bars and community venues will be open Saturday 23rd — Sunday 24th November from 10am to 6pm. Selected venues will hold a preview evening with wine and nibbles on Friday 22nd November.
An enormous variety of artwork is available to buy and free to see. A range of paintings, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, mosaics and glasswork will be on show and youll find a high level of quality of work (many of our artists are professional) as well as a warm welcome. The trail has become a popular and regular event in the North Bristol calendar.
Although the majority of artists exhibit in their own homes many public venues offer exhibition spaces. These include Heart Space Studios, Artemis, Planet Pizza and new gallery Room 212 on the Gloucester Road. Many of these venues already display a selection of work by North Bristol Artists year round, have special group shows in the build up to the trail and will supply maps and information about the trail.
Refreshments and cakes will be offered at the Community venues and many of the artists studios and houses. Its a day out to suit everyone
A trail map is distributed door to door, in local shops and can be found on the NBA website. visit www.northbristolartists.org.uk
In addition to the art browsers there are those who come with a more serious eye to buy affordable art from talented artists. As this is the last art trail of the year in Bristol, its a welcome event for those looking for unique and special Christmas presents for loved ones. Therell be lots of childrens activities at different venues and they will have stickers to collect on the trail.
The North Bristol Artists website, Facebook page and Twitter are up and running year round so check them for other upcoming events and also to see who is featured as Artist of the Month.
As a membership organisation, North Bristol Artists works with the local community throughout the year and this is reflected in the community involvement in the Trail. We are delighted to continue working with Horfield Prison where the Visitors Centre will be open once again displaying the residents work. Other community venues will be St Michaels Church Hall and the Horfield Baptist Church, both on the Gloucester Road.
The Baptist Church will have work on show from Lighting Up, NBA artists and local children. Lighting Up is an inspiring charity that works with people with dementia and their families throughout the year. Many of the North Bristol Artists are involved in this project and give their time for free. The participants produce individual and group pieces and its really fulfilling to be able to showcase this work every year.
If you like a musical accompaniment to your art then head along to St. Bartholomews Church, St Andrews. This is a very popular venue where we will be exhibiting a number of artists work accompanied by some fantastic live performances by an eclectic mix of local musicians. The programme starts around midday on both trail days. Other venues will also be presenting singing, reading and acoustic performances throughout the weekend. Check the NBA website or Facebook page for more details.
The NBA is committed to providing accessibility for everyone. Each year we increase the number of the community and home venues which are accessible with wheelchairs or buggies and these will be clearly marked on our trail map.Art, Artemis, Ashley Down, bars, Bike Back, bikes, Bishopston, Bristol, cafes, community, cycling, gallery, Gloucester Road, Heart Space Studios, homes, Horfield, Horfield Prison, Lighting Up, local, NBA, North Bristol Art's Trail, Planet Pizza, recycle, Redland, Room 212, St Andrews, studios, voice Back to news
