Bristol Stitchers Exhibition
May 29th, 2025Friday 30th May to Saturday 31st May 10 – 4 pm. Entrance £4.
Bristol Stitchers, a north Bristol-based creative group, are excited and proud to present an exhibition of creative embroidery, textile art and mixed media work during their two-day exhibition at Stoke Lodge Adult Education Centre.
There are 60 members of this thriving and creative group, who meet regularly to enjoy: Meet and Stitch sessions, skill shares, listening to leading speakers from the textile community and taking part in a wide range of workshops, run by established and skilled tutors from across the country. The small but experienced committee creates a wide range of workshops. One member commented that the group has a fantastic and varied range of workshops and speakers. ‘The best in Bristol!’
‘We extend a warm welcome to members, whatever their textile and stitch craft interests are, or levels of ability, our varied programme and opportunities offer something for everyone,’ says Joanne, the current Chair.
The exhibition is a chance for members of the group to showcase the work that they have been making over the past two years, inspired by workshops, community activities and creative skills that people from within the group have shared: they spent one year learning a range of Stumpwork skills from a very experienced member, Alexia, during skill share sessions and continue to learn from each other in a way that has strengthened and enriched the creative community.
At the exhibition, curated and hung professionally by a small team of volunteers, you will experience a wide range of work including: Goldwork, textile collages, traditional embroidery, black work, abstract embroidery and beautiful textile artwork. Expect a warm welcome from Bristol Stitchers, and members of the group will be present to answer your questions and share knowledge. Many of the exhibition items are for sale.
As well as viewing the exhibition, visit the sales table, which will offer smaller handmade, stitched items, including cards, jewellery and brooches for sale. If you stitch, there is also a table selling stitch-related items so you can add to your stash and do not forget to visit the refreshments room – probably the best selection of homemade cakes in North Bristol!
The venue for the exhibition is fully accessible, with free parking on site, making it easy to access and enjoy.
You are welcome to come along and visit this inspiring exhibition at Stoke Lodge Adult Education Centre, Shirehampton Road, Bristol, BS9 1BN on Friday 30th May and Saturday 31st May. 10 – 4 pm.
