Cinderella … but not as you know it
May 27th, 2016On Sunday 19th June touring opera company Tessitoura will perform a fresh take on one of Rossini’s most beloved operas – La Cenerentola, set against a picturesque outdoor backdrop.
Witness a new retelling of old favourite – Cinderella, in this compelling operatic production, whilst you enjoy a gorgeous picnic and views all across Bristol at Colston’s Schools exclusive setting.
This event will raise funds for Julian House, a charity which runs a number of homelessness prevention and addiction recovery projects in Bristol and South Glos.
Set in modern day England, this sparkling comedy has a charm and character very much of its own. It follows the story of Angelina, a harassed PA stuck in her step-father’s business, a Prince in the most royal of reality shows, and a litany of other colourful characters as we find out if true love can still triumph in the 21st Century.
We are taken on a whirlwind journey comprising of a ball, a bracelet and burgeoning young love, which is brought to life by the dazzling cast of Tessitoura and accompanied by one of Rossini’s most exquisite and complex scores.
The many wonderful melodies will be sung in English by both experienced performers and young singers who are accompanied by a spectacular ensemble of chamber musicians.
Julian House Community and Event’s Fundraiser, Joanne Bamford says “Whether novice or aficionado, curious about opera, but timid about trying this is a superb performance that offers adults and children alike a fantastic experience.”
A perfect way to start the summer, a balmy night, big open space and a superb performance, there is something very special about outdoor opera – there is something for everyone.
“If you love opera or have never been to one, make sure you catch this” ends Joanne.
