Sunday Volunteers Needed at Horfield Hospice Shop

Our local hospice charity is appealing for volunteers to help out at its shop in Horfield on Sundays.

The St Peter’s Hospice shop on Gloucester Road is looking for people able to give up a few hours a week to help the shop manager with serving customers, displaying goods and sorting donations.

No experience is necessary and volunteers can donate as much or as little time as they can.

St Peter’s Hospice Horfield shop Sunday manager, Debby Murphy, said: “We are in desperate need of new volunteers at the shop on Sundays. Even if people can’t help out every Sunday and can only spare a couple of hours, every little helps in this busy shop.

“We need help with cleaning, tidying, selling our Local Lotto tickets and of course we need lovely, friendly people to help serve our loyal customers.

“Our volunteers are essential to keeping the hospice running and funds generated by the shops is vital, going towards caring for those with life-limiting illnesses. Volunteering not only helps out a worthwhile local cause, it’s also a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and try something different.

“If you think you could spare some time for us, we’d love to hear from you.”

As Bristol’s only adult hospice, St Peter’s Hospice cares for more than 2,670 patients each year as well as supporting family members.

All services are provided free of charge for patients and their families and this care costs around £19,000 a day. In order to continue providing vital care for the people of Bristol, St Peter’s Hospice relies on donations from fundraising and money generated by the 50 hospice charity shops in Bristol and surrounding districts.
