Sefton Park Scorpions secure sweetest signing

Sefton Park Primary School’s under 7s football team has secured the sweetest deal with Gloucester Road confectionary shop Scrumptiously Sweet sponsoring their match kit.

The Year 2 school team, who play at the Kellaway Avenue cricket ground, have been playing together for a year and are now playing matches against similar teams across Bristol.  They just needed a little extra support to make sure they looked the part on the pitch.

Parents approached a number of local businesses, big retailers and supermarkets in the area but got an immediate response from Melonie Telfer at Scrumptiously Sweet who was very happy to take up the sponsorship deal.

Melonie said: “As a local retailer on the Gloucester Road we are committed to doing our part in the local community and we are very pleased to be able to help the team from Sefton Park School.”

“It is great seeing the boys and girls turning up for football each weekend whatever the weather and I am very impressed that the Scorpions are making sport part of their active weekend.  We will be closely following their fortunes on the football pitch over the season.”

The popular sweet shop has been trading on the Gloucester Road for over four years and they are proud to offer a large range of traditional and popular sweets as well as a range of tailored birthday and special occasion gift baskets.

Scorpions’ coach, Ben Clark said: “We were delighted when Melonie and the team at Scrumptiously Sweet said that they would sponsor our team strip.  The team is run by the parents on a voluntary basis so it is great to get some local support with the running costs.

“It has also given the children a great sense of pride to have their own new smart kit for their matches and added to the sense of team spirit.  Once again a big thanks to Scrumptiously Sweet.”
