Young Local Swimmer Gains 17 Gold Medals

A YOUNG Bristol swimmer gained an astonishing 17 gold medals from two events.
Anna Soteriou, 11, from Eastville, a member of Soundwell Swimming Club, won every race she entered in the Gloucester City Gala and at the county championships, breaking 11 county records, some of which had been in place for 10 years.
Anna, a Year 7 student at Fairfield High School in Horfield, also claimed a gold and a silver award at the Bristol Schools’ Swimming Gala held at Easton baths. She took gold in the junior girls’ 50 metre butterfly and was a close second in the 50 metre freestyle.
Kelly Harmer, from Fairfield High School, said: “We are all very proud of Anna and her achievements.”
