Wallace & Gromit from the drawing board: New Summer Exhibition at M ShedMay 7th, 2014
A cracking new summer exhibition at M Shed marking the 25th anniversary of the first-ever Wallace & Gromit film which was released in 1989, starts on Saturday 24th May and runs until Sunday 7th September.
Explore what lies behind Britain’s famous award-winning Wallace & Gromit films and their Bristol based creators, Aardman Animations. Find out how the universally loved stories have been created, how the iconic characters have been developed, and what has inspired their makers.
Wallace & Gromit from the drawing board has been especially created for M Shed by Aardman and Cod Steaks – the company that makes many of Aardman’s amazingly intricate sets, some of which will be on display. Expect to see storyboards used to create some of the witty and familiar film scenes, and special production artefacts such as Nick Park’s notebook, albums and scrapbooks.
Marvel at film archive and watch your favourite Aardman clips. Encounter objects that have never been on display before, like the original rocket from ‘A Grand Day Out’… or get up close to the original OSCAR and BAFTA – who knows, they might inspire you to start your own film career.
Try your hand at being creative as you wander through Wallace and Gromit’s house, inspired by the weird and wonderful contraptions on display from the museum’s own collections. Scribble and sketch your own storyline, along with other family friendly activities, and don’t miss the chance to have your photo taken next to the popular comedy duo… say cheese!
