Sponsored riders cycle from Pier to Port for Life Cycle UKNovember 3rd, 2014
Thirty cyclists – some of them blind and cycling on the back of tandems – recently completed a 32 mile sponsored cycle ride from Weston Super Mare Pier to Bristol Suspension Bridge, to raise money for local charity Life Cycle UK.
Battling poor weather and punctures in the morning, the group raised vital funds for Life Cycle’s “inclusive cycling programme” – several distinct projects which support people to improve their lives through cycling.
“Two’s Company” gives blind and visually impaired individuals opportunities to come cycling on tandem bicycles; “Bike Minded” supports those experiencing mental health issues; and “Silver Cyclists” offers gentle, friendly group rides exclusively for the over-55s.
Together the group have so far raised £230 towards Life Cycle’s work – and the riders hope to boost this total further through generating additional donations to their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/piertoport/Tags: Ashley Down, Bishopston, Bristol, Bristol free magazine, community, Gloucester Road, Horfield, Life Cycle Uk, local, Redland, St Andrews, voice Back to news
