Please Donate Your Old Furniture

Moving house is often the time when you need to get rid of some furniture and now people in the Bishopston area can help other local people with incurable illnesses by donating their unwanted items to St Peter’s Hospice.

If you are down-sizing, furniture will often not fit in the new home or you may just want to go for a complete change of style and colour when on the move.

St Peter’s Hospice has opened the city’s biggest charity shop in Gloucester Road, Horfield. At 4,000 square feet it is a department store and the charity is looking for furniture donations to sell in store.

Karen Schlapfer of St Peter’s Hospice said: “We want to keep stocking a good selection of furniture so if you have something to donate get in touch with us and a member of staff will come out to have a look at the furniture and if it is suitable we will put it on display and sell it.

“People on a budget who want to furnish their new home can pop along and see what we have in store and hopefully find a bargain.”

St Peter’s Hospice costs £6 million to run every year with 25 per cent of its cost coming from the NHS and the rest raised through donations, fund-raising and sales in the shops.

Anyone with furniture to donate should call 0117 9232203 with details of the item they have to donate.
