Exciting events to be held at Horfield Common this Summer!April 28th, 2014
This Summer there are two exciting events to be held on Horfield Common. The first event is the Friends of Horfield Common’s Annual Summer Picnic which is to be held on Sunday 17th August 12 – 5pm and the second event is a Wildlife Family Fun Day on Saturday 31st May 1 – 4pm.
Please read on for more information about the two exciting events from the Friends of Horfield Common…
Wildlife Family Fun Day on Horfield Common! (as part of Bristol’s Citywide Festival of Nature), Saturday 31st May 2014, 1 – 4pm
On Saturday 31st May 2014, from 1.00 – 4.00pm we will be hosting a Wildlife Family Fun Day on Horfield Common as part of the citywide Bristol Festival of Nature (FON). See the FON site for more information.
During the afternoon, you can have a go at bug-hunting and pond dipping, take part in a range of wildlife-themed arts, crafts and science activities inside the Ardagh site, and join local wildlife experts on a guided walk around the common helping us to undertake the first annual wildlife survey of the Common as you go! There will be a chance to find out more about the work that the Wildlife and Biodiversity group are currently doing, and how you can get involved with this as well as the chance to explore and find out more about the wonderful wildlife that exists on the common .
More detailed information will be available on our website in early May, but please do get this date into your diaries and come along to join in the fun!
Friends of Horfield Common’s Annual Summer Picnic 2014!, Sunday 17th August 2014, 12 – 5pm
This year’s annual Friends of Horfield Common Summer Picnic will take place on Sunday 17th August from 12 – 5pm. We have chosen to move the event to a later date in the Summer to (hopefully!) enjoy better weather than we did last year!
This is the one weekend in the Summer when there is not a large-scale festival or event planned in the city, so we are hopeful that many local people and families will be able to come along and join us.
More detailed information will be available in late June. The summer picnic is a fantastic and well-attended local event run entirely by volunteers. If you would like to get involved in organising the event or can be a pair of helping-hands on the day – please do get in touch!
As always – further information is available on our website at www.friendsofhorfieldcommon.com, and you can join the conversations and keep up to date with all things Horfield Comon on our ‘Friends of Horfield Common’ Facebook Page and on Twitter @FOHC_Bristol
