Community Ceilidh

Another fantastic Ceilidh at St Bart’s church hall in St Andrews took place last Friday. I had the pleasure of attending this delightful community event. The evening was organised by local Friends of St Andrews Park. Particular thanks needs to go to Paul Bullivant, John Mayne and Steve Perry.

I have been contacted by fellow FoSAP Doug Reid who helped out at the bar on the evening, he would like to extend his thanks and congratulations to the special people that made the evening happen he says of Paul, John and Steve, “I am Proud of them all not only in their efforts tonight but all of the effort that they display for Friends of St Andrews Park”.  I must agree with Doug that the event was tremendous success and raised a tremendous £600 for the Horn of Africa Famine Appeal. Everybody had a lot of fun taking part in the dances with wonderful music and dance instructions provided by the talented ‘Mole Catchers’.

The half time food was another highlight – not your average buffet. A giant pizza from the Gloucester Road Bread Store and homemade chocolate tart were my particular favourites! Many local businesses provided prizes for the raffle, Bishopston Matters was pleased to be involved with the event.

If you would like to get involved with the Friends of St Andrews Park, they are friendly bunch and would welcome your input. The next meeting takes place on Wednesday 7th December at the Derby Road Bowling club.

Thank you again to the organisers and we all hope there will be a 2012 Ceilidh!

Thanks to the following local businesses for their support – Ablectrics, Bishopston Hardware, Bishopston Matters, Catherine Amesbury – contemporary jeweller at Artemis, County Convenience Stores – Derby Road, The Flower Shop, Julia Rowe – contemporary fused glass designs, Scoopaway.
