Unputdownable: Bristol's First Ever Literature Festival

Bristol Festival of Literature

The programme for Bristol’s first ever literature festival which begins next month has now been launched.

The festival, ‘Unputdownable’, which will run from the October 14-23, will feature homegrown writing talent, as well as visiting authors, poets and performers.

More than 50 events make up the festival’s programme, showcasing writing from a wide range of genres. Interactive sessions with authors will see festival goers exploring big names as well as unknown, high-quality work.

‘This is very much a community event,’ says St Andrews resident Mike Manson. ‘Unputdownable is being run by a core volunteer group of local writers, editors and publishers. It features real writing for real people. There will be no ghost-written celebrity memoirs.’

Featured authors include Nick Park, Helen Dunmore, Jasper Fforde, GP Taylor and Rachel Ward, plus master-classes in getting published, and writing for children.

Events will take place at venues across Bristol. There will be a focus on the Stokes Croft area of city, scene of the recent disturbances.

Booking is now open. Many of the events are free to attend. Visit www.unputdownable.org for the full programme or phone 0117 230 5177
