Spring Events at the Golden Hill Community Garden

Community Project worker, Lucy Mitchell shares with us the forthcoming fun events planned at the local community garden….
Our Sunday Club for families who have a child/ren with a special educational need or disability starts on 2nd April. It’s be a lovely monthly club for families to come and enjoy the garden together. Toasting snacks, exploring nature, pond dipping, parachute games, sensory activities and songs. Booking essential. Thanks to the Quartet Community and John James Foundations for their funding and this is just £5 per session £3 additional siblings
AND more for families with a child/ren with SEND at our 20th Adventure day 10-4. We’ll be cooking pizza, playing games, making a mess and more! One parent said last year “I really feel part of something here”. Thanks to the Avon and Somerset police for funding this and it’s just £5.
Badger and Captain Clare be running our usual and always popular Adventure Days for 5-12 year olds this holiday 11th and 18th April 10am-4pm the theme is outlaws, the wildwood and fairy tales! We’ll be making, crafting, playing, and trying not to get eaten by wolves. A day of wild fun and work out for the imagination! £26 including pizza from the giant frog. Only 16 so booking essential.
And for grown ups we’ve got lots coming up including…. Qi in the Garden! We’ll be running free Qi Gong sessions on Tuesday 2:30-3:00 fortnightly starting 12th April for 12 weeks. Everyone is welcome to pop in and do some gentle stretching and breathing exercises in our beautiful garden to a soundtrack of bird song and have a cup of tea afterwards. Enjoy a moment of tranquility in our hectic times. No experience or special clothing required.
And of course we’ll be busy gardening as normal. Come and find us any Wednesday anytime between 10am-4pm behind Horfield Prison, come get involved or just come and say hi. There’s so much to plant this time of year and we’ll be preparing for our giant big spring fair- Saturday 13th May 1pm-4pm! Music, dancing, plant sale, free kids’ activities, sensory trail, pond dipping, pizza and cake. Get it in the diary!
