Reflections VI: Renewal: A Mixed Art Exhibition from the Reflections Group

“Reflections VI: Renewal” is the sixth exhibition from the ever popular Reflections Group of Bristol artists. Although the work of each of the artists will be familiar from various local exhibitions they have been developing new types of work in the last few months. So it promises to be another exciting and vibrant exhibition, full of colour, variety and texture, guaranteed to brighten up an early spring day.

With each artist having their own highly original style this latest exhibition will include a strong eclectic line up of paintings, prints, ceramics, glass, enamels and textiles. There is bound to be something to please all visitors, whether their interest is in figurative or abstract images, jewellery or 3D work. It is well worth coming along and to see what the artists have been creating over the winter and may be pick up a gift for Mother’s Day, a birthday or even something just for you.

Sarah Cowper -Bird in the BlueThe exhibition starts on Saturday 22nd March at The Bristol Guild Gallery, Park Street, Clifton with an opening party for all visitors to celebrate the start of the new exhibition. It runs until Saturday 12th April and the gallery is open between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

All seven artists (listed below) have exhibited within and beyond the Bristol area. They are members of the highly successful North Bristol Artists (www.northbristolartists.co.uk) group who show their work in houses and studios across North Bristol in the annual North Bristol Art Trail across North Bristol on the last weekend in November.

Sarah Cowper builds up layers of different media to create vibrant collages and prints.

Christine Howes is a relief printmaker and teacher, whose work is inspired by wildlife and the environment.

Jo Hyam makes intricate machine-stitched pictures and 3-D vessels, as well as vibrant watercolour or acrylic paintings. Her inspiration comes from colour itself, nature, and world cultures. Commissions welcome.

Julia Rowe loves to experiment with unusual applications of fused glass to create wall hangings, mirrors and freestanding pieces with abstract designs.

Denise Lonsdale uses etching of metal and layering of enamel to build textures and shapes to create striking and brilliantly coloured enamel jewellery and wall pieces.

Simon Melican throws pots on the wheel using clays with unusual ingredients added, fired in a variety of ways using a variety of glazes to produce striking vases and vessels.

Jenny Urquhart paints places that she loves using a variety of mediums to create pictures that capture the appeal of some of the South West’s most popular coastal resorts as well as favourite views in and around Bristol.
