Redland High School meet up with their Paint Pals

Eight pupils from Redland High School for Girls visited Westbury Fields Residential Home for the Elderly recently as part of the Paint Pals initiative. The Paint Pals scheme encourages communication through art between the elderly in care and young people and is run by the charity Alive!

The session got off to a great start when the girls and residents shared a cake and everyone joined in singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, a favourite song with the residents.

The girls then paired up with their Paint Pals and each pair produced a wonderful picture of a colourful bird. Watching the girls with their Paint Pals, listening, encouraging and empathising was inspiring and demonstrated just how beneficial this liaison is to both groups.
