Park Arts11 – A Triumph!July 13th, 2011
I am delighted to report that the recent ParkArts11 held in St Andrews Park was a fantastic success. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and hundreds attended to experience the wonderful live music, visual arts, stalls and delicious food and drink.
The event was jointly opened by our very own vicar, James Stevenson and Archers vicar and local resident John Telfer (pictured right).
On a personal note I would like to thank all the people that visited us at our Charity food and craft stall. All proceeds taken will go to the Bristol MS Society. The generosity of local people saw us raise a brilliant £400 over the afternoon.
Main event organiser Paul Bullivant told me, “ParkArts11 exceeded all our expectations for the variety of activities and artists involved and for the number and warmth of the crowd. Everyone just seemed to be having a great time and, if they weren’t trying their hand at the Big Easel Project or wood block printing they were enjoying the wide range of acoustic music from The Bristol Samba Orchestra to Swedish influenced folk from ‘Spelmanslag’. The installations form the three commissioned artists attracted a lot on interest too and if you didn’t see them at the ParkArts festival you can enjoy them until the end of July.”
