North Bristol Artists in 2014March 7th, 2014
The North Bristol Artists have a busy year ahead. Although the main focus is the Art Trail at the end of November the NBA are always and 2014 is looking to be a fantastic year.
Southmead Hospital are coming to the end of their rebuild and have invited the North Bristol Artists to have a permanent place in the brand new reception area. This is a fantastic opportunity and the NBA are thrilled to have been asked. The exhibition will be on a rotation basis whereby different groups of NBA artists will be shown every 4 months. The exhibition space will be curated by the experienced team of artists who put together the NBA group shows. The first exhibition will be hung and on show at the end May. Southmead Hospital plan a big launch in September.
North Bristol Artists will be participating in the Local Community Festival this May in a couple of ways. Gloucester Road Central is always a buzzing focal point of the Art trail and so the NBA are keen to support the newly formed Glos Rd Central with their events. Mayfest, on May 3rd, is a perfect time for the North Bristol Artists to show off their talents and they have offered to help decorate this part of Gloucester Road and help with creative activities. The idea is to make the street as attractive and eyecatching as possible with bunting, ribbons and flowers to add to the street party scene and welcome Jack in the Green and the morris dancers. Room 212 has asked artists for work inspired by the Mayfest theme and to help dress the windows for another spectacular display
Redland Green Fair takes place on Monday May 3rd this year and the North Bristol Artists have decided to double the size of the marquee they normally have. This means that individual artists will be able to show, and hopefully sell, their work as well as tell the public about the art trail in November. Other prominent North Bristol Artists such as Jenny Urquhart and Caroline Casswell will have their own stalls as usual.
North Bristol Artists are very active throughout Bristol and the Southwest and over the years they have grouped together to create pop up shops and galleries around town. They are on the look-out for opportunities and venues for group exhibitions in 2014. Many of the artists are regular exhibitors at Room 212, Fig and Artemis at Glos Rd Central and artists help to run Room 212.
All in all there is always the opportunity to buy local art, meet artists and discuss their work all year round, not just on the North Bristol Art Trail.
