New Writers the Order of the Day at Kelvin Players this Summer

Two new one act plays by local writers is the exciting premise of the latest production from Bishopston based Kelvin Players this summer.

‘Chicken Shed Reunited’ by Craig Malpass and ‘TV Times’ by Chris Adams are the two new plays which will run from Tuesday 12 to Saturday 16 July 2011.

‘Chicken Shed Reunited’ tells the story of Miles, Simon and Danny three old friends from school, who were bullied and unpopular and who reunite after years apart. The story follows them as they try to re-establish a friendship lost many years before and come to terms with changes in their lives.

‘TV Times’ is set in a small, terraced house – with a broken lock on the back door – and follows the story of an elderly couple watching television. A variety of characters enter their lives, coming and going – but do they have their own free will or are we to believe they are taken from a stock of characters that we see nightly on our television screens?

The two one act plays are quite dark and tackle serious issues, but with a touch of comedy and the ridiculous.

Kelvin Players have a history of encouraging new and exciting theatre, and offer opportunities in all areas of theatre, including writing. A number of new writers have had their debut plays performed at the group. The plays will take place at the Kelvin Studio, 253b Gloucester Road, Bishopston.

Tickets are £7 on Tuesday 12 and £9 from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 July. To book, visit the website: or call the booking line on: 0117 959 3636.
