Fancy Dress Fanatics add Children's Costumes ready for World Book Day

It is very unusual to find hire costumes for children, and one local fancy dress shop has decided to change that in the lead up to World Book Day.

World Book day is a huge stress for many parents and can get very expensive, so local Fancy Dress Shop, Fancy Dress Fanatics, is not only making things easier for parents with their wide collection, but will also be opening late in the days leading up to it to make it easier for working parents to get something sorted for their children.

IMG_0762I get a lot of parents calling the shop, desperately trying to get a last minute costume for their child’s school event around their busy work schedules” says Fran, owner of Fancy Dress Fanatics. “Many parents work long hours now, and I hear from them again and again that they don’t get a lot of notice from schools about dressing up events and struggle to rush around a couple of days before to get something sorted”

You also have the added issue that a lot of the popular children’s costumes are licensed, so they can be pretty expensive for just a few hours wear. We’re hoping this service will help with that, as many parents can’t afford the high prices of some of the costumes that are on the market”

IMG_0764Most of the hire costumes for the shop are made by the owner’s Grandmother, who used to work on Films and TV projects for Pinewood Studios, the BBC, Royal Shakespeare company and many theatres up and down the country. So far this has been a brilliant partnership, and the pair are working hard to grow the collection to cover a huge range of styles and sizes.

There are a lot of dressing up events in schools throughout the year, for World Book Day plus school projects and plays. We also get asked for children’s hire costumes when families are heading to a fancy dress party and want to dress up as a group including the children, so it’s definitely something we spotted a market for”.

The shop will be adding to this hire collection over the coming months, but will also be stocking a wide selection of children’s costumes and accessories available to purchase. And to give working parents an extra helping hand, will be opening late in the lead up to World Book Day until 7pm on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th of March.
