Could you support your local schools by becoming a school governor?
March 1st, 2023At Ashley Down Schools Federation we are looking for volunteers to join our governing body, which oversees the management of Ashley Down and Brunel Field Primary Schools.
We would welcome applications from people in the local community who are interested in helping our schools to be the best they can be. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a real difference to the success of local schools and pupils!
We are a welcoming and friendly governing body, and the Chair, Headteachers, Clerk to Governors and other experienced governors support every new member when they join. Our Governors also have access to ongoing training and development through the Bristol City Council Governor Development Service.
School governing bodies set the school’s strategic direction, hold the Head Teachers to account for the school’s performance and ensure that the school’s budget is properly managed. Our board of 17 governors are collectively responsible for working with the school leadership team to achieve these aims.
If you become a governor, you will need to work well as part of a team, be confident to share ideas, ask questions and participate in informed decision making, maintain confidentiality at all times, and be committed to supporting our schools to the best of your ability.
If you would be interested in finding out more, please email the Clerk to Governors at brunelfield.p@bristol-schools.uk or visit our website at https://www.ashleydownschool.org.uk/Governors-Vacancies/
We look forward to hearing from you!
