Celebrating Age Festival 'Brilliant in Bristol' calls for art entries

It’s time to get creative – Bristol’s Celebrating Age Festival which starts this summer is calling for entries for its annual art competition.

This year’s festival which runs from June 24 to July 6 will be themed Brilliant in Bristol: Many Neighbourhoods, Many Cultures, One City, to reflect the talent and the diversity of older people across the city.

Events will be taking place in Bristol neighbourhoods during the two weeks as well as a main Celebration Day at City Hall on Saturday June 29 – which will feature a range of entertainment as well as craft and information stalls.

Celebrating Age Committee Chair Judith Brown says they are looking for art entries ‘in any medium’ from paintings to sculptures.

She says: “If you live in Bristol and are over 55 we look forward to receiving your entries – which should reflect the theme of the Celebrating Age festival.

“Entries should be brought to central library and a ballot box will be available there so people can vote for their favourite.  There will be the chance to see the display of artwork as part of the festival from June 25 to July 6. Prizes will be awarded for the top three at our celebration event.”

All entries should be submitted to central library by June 14. Winners will be announced at the Celebration Day on June 29 – when the display will be moved to City Hall for everyone to see.
