Carols in the Park raises excellent amount for charity

St Andrews Park was magical as it boasted it’s beautiful white coat of snow. We wondered “would anyone venture out on an evening like this?” To our great delight a huge crowd of all ages did arrive. We had rigged up a gazebo, two screens, two projectors, and a camera to show all the speakers and the choir and musicians. Mulled wine and minced pies flowed freely, and people chatted and sang with gusto.

We heard a very good short talk about the meaning of Christmas from Rev James Stevenson, the priest-in-charge of the parish of Bishopston and St Andrews, sang many favourite carols, and the whole event lasted exactly 45 minutes from start to finish, “about the right length on such a cold night” said a few who were asked afterwards.

A fantastic £2036 was donated to our chosen charity, Unseen UK, which helps people caught up in the sex trade here in the UK.

We would like to thank all who helped make this such a special community even here in our part of Bristol. We look forward to celebrating in a similar way again this coming Christmas, but doubt we will have the wonderful snow again.
