Britain's Biggest Walking FestivalDecember 10th, 2012
The Ramblers hugely popular Festival of Winter Walks starts before Christmas, giving you a fortnight of free, festive, fun-filled walking adventures.
Whether you fancy a short amble to spend some time with the family or a lengthy New Years Day hike to get rid of that Christmas over-indulgence theres a wonderful variety of glorious walks available for all tastes and abilities.
Bristol Ramblers invite you to join them on the following festive, festival walk staking place locally. The programme includes two annual events. The Solstice Stomp starts at sunrise and ends at sunset on the Sunday closest to the winter solstice. This year, the Stomp will be around North Somerset. The New Year hike will be on Crook Peak, in the glorious Mendips.
Saturday 22 Dec Linear Stroll Sat 4/5 miles. Meet 10:00 Horfield L.C. Skate park. Buses 75, 76, 310 Finish at Bourne End Pub, Brentry.
Sunday 23 Dec Solstice Stomp Sun 17miles. Meet at Clifton end of Suspension Bridge at 08:00.
Sun 23 Dec Compton Dando10 miles. Meet at 09:00 at Great George Street.
Wed 26 Dec Durdham Downs Wed 4 miles. Meet at 10:45 Clifton Down shopping centre.
Sat 29 Dec Motorway & Monuments 6 miles. Meet at 10:00 Snuff Mills Car Park. Café at end.
Sun 30 Dec Gordano Gasper Sun 12 miles. Meet at 09:00 Great George Street.
Tues 1 Jan Crook Peak12 miles. Meet at 09:00 at Gt. George Street.
Wed 2 Jan Long Ashton 5.5 miles. Meet at 10:00 at Angel Pub, Long Ashton.
Sat 5 Jan Bridge Yate Common 5 miles. Meet at 10:00 at White Hart Pub-park at rear. Bus 635.
Sun 6 Jan Maes Knoll 13 miles. Meet at 08:00 at Gt. George Street.
06 Jan (B) Hinton Revisited 11 Miles. Meet either 08:30 Gt George Street or 09:00 Pomphrey Hill Playing Fields Car Park Pomphrey Hill, Emersons Green.
All of the walks are FREE and open to everyone to attend.
