A Wonderful White Wassail!January 19th, 2013
Songs were sung around the trees, beautifully led by the Bristol Community Choir. The trees were fed with soaked bread and rather frozen cider to encourage a good crop of fruit later this year. The Orchard trees were decorated with bright ribbons and clouties. ‘Wassail’ comes from the Anglo-Saxon waes haeil – to be healthy and we very much hope this ceremony has done the trick!
It was great to be warmed up by some mulled apple juice whilst enjoying the fantastic performance of the Pigsty Morris.
Congratulations to the organisers and all that took part. This is another seasonal event that makes living in our community such a great place to be.apples, Bishopston, Bishopston Matters, Bishopston Voice, Bristol Community Choir, community orchard, Horfield Organic Community Orchard, Pigsty Morris, Snow, waeshaeil, Wassail Back to news
