The Redland Green Choir will be giving a concert of English music on Saturday 13th July. at 7:30pm in the new Redland Hall at the Redmaids’ High School.

Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions) from or at the door.

The programme will feature The Music Makers by Edward Elgar, for which the choir will

be joined by the Long Ashton Orchestra and soloist Katy Garden. This piece is a powerful and emotional expression of confidence in the power of the arts. Completed in 1912, just before the First World War, it reflects the spirit of its age. The spirits of other ages are evoked by other works on the programme: a Beatles medley, Handel’s Zadok the

Priest, and songs by Finzi and Hatton. The choir’s gifted young director, Nicholas

Bromilow, says ‘this varied and rousing programme illustrates changing musical and social

thought, and gives the choir the opportunity to demonstrate its abilities across a range

of musical styles.’

The concert builds on the success of previous summer concerts, which have featured

works such as the Verdi Requiem and Beethoven’s Choral Symphony.
