The 2015 North Bristol Art Trail is here!

Our artists recognise that the enthusiasm and encouragement of the local community towards the Trail has been an inspiration and a guide in their development as artists.

“I remember the first Trail that I did being amazing – such lovely feedback.  The Trail has really given me a focus for each year’s work.” Mary Collett

Over the past few years several artists and groups of artists have set up galleries, studios and shops such as at ‘Gloucester Road Central’, which give us a year round showcase of local artists’ work.  This has helped to enliven the area and contributes to it being a ‘go-to destination’!

In the time since the Trail began, some artists have developed from being locally active to being recognised at regional and national levels for their art, craft or design work and to others working with international commissions. For some of these ambitious, full-time artists, the Trail offers a network of like-minded people and also keeps them in contact with a public.

‘The Trail has allowed me to meet and enjoy the company of some fantastic local makers, who I might not have met otherwise!’ Chick Elliott

This year NBA artists again have made contributions back into our community.  The new Southmead Hospital has not only bought a permanent collection of local art for the wards from NBA artists but also we have an on-going exhibition in the foyer changing throughout the year.  Temple Meads, Art on the Platform, is another setting for several members work over the coming four years, offering a welcome to Bristol.

The skills of our artists are too many to mention; curating exhibitions, publishing books, starting new arts projects in education and community support, producing public works and hoping all the time to remain accessible to the local community for whom we have a lot to thank.

Do look up the North Bristol Artists web site http://www.northbristolartists.org.uk , as our Artists Profiles will give you lots more exciting news of our achievements, as it is there that we try and “Blow our own Trumpets”  too difficult to do face-to-face.

‘The Trail has acted as an inspiration to my practice as well as giving us a community of like-minded travelling companions to share our enthusiasm for art and life.’ Paul Bullivant
